Coconut Oil-based soap is incredibly moisturizing and is thought to also contain anti-biotic, anti-fungal, anti-microbial, and anti-itch properties thanks to its high quantity of fatty acids including lauric acid (48%) and caprylic acid (7%)(1). Lauric acid has shown in in vitro studies to be an effective acne treatment, (2), while Caprylic acid is used currently for its bactericide and fungicide benefits in various commercial operations and for its antimicrobial properties in commercial food prepartion. Coconut Oil-based soap also contains Vitamin E which many believe delivers anti-aging properties to the skin, possibly reducing the appearance of wrinkles. (4)
